Common Symptoms and How to Avoid Shin Splints

One of the most common foot problems we treat as podiatrists is Shin Splints.

Shin Splints occur when excessive force causes the muscles to swell. This force increases the pressure against  the bone leading to pain and inflammation.

Here are some of the common symptoms of Shin Splints:

  • A dull ache in the front part of the lower leg
  • Pain that develops during exercise
  • Pain on either side of the shin bone
  • Muscle pain
  • Pain along the inner part of the lower leg
